During the summer holiday new international students arrive, while graduate students often have not yet left their rooms yet. This creates a ‘peak period’ and a shortage of rooms. In the fall semester SSH provides temporary accommodation for arriving students to help them in their search for permanent housing. If you book a room in our emergency housing accommodation (bed B), you will share your room with another international student (bed A) and you are expected to leave after 4 months.
What are the rental periods for emergency housing students?
The exact start- and end date for emergency housing students from 8 August 2024 until 29 November 2024. These tenants have the option to terminate the rental agreement monthly.
Can I cancel my rental agreement/booking?
No, it's not possible to cancel your booking. However, you can terminate your rental agreement before the first day of the month, with a notice period of one calendar month. To cancel the rent yourself, log on to My SSH page and click on 'Rent Cancellation'. Make sure to do this before the first day of the month if you want to end your rental agreement the following month. For example, if you cancel your rental agreement before the 31st of August, your termination will be effective on the 30th of September. If you cancel your rental agreement on the 1st of September, it will be effective on the 31st of October.
I read about a phone key, how does that work?
All doors at Proxima feature iLOQ digital locks, accessible via the iLOQ S50 app on your smartphone, we call these digital locks 'phone keys'. Access is granted from your contract start time (2:00 pm) to the end of your rental agreement (10:00 am). Make sure to install your phone key prior to arrival. Will I receive my money back if I cancel my rent?
Yes, if you cancel your rent, we will settle the overdue rent that you have paid in advance, depending on your last rent day. We strive to refund it within 2 weeks after your last rental date on the credit card you have used during the booking process. Contact us if you haven’t received the refund after 2 weeks.
I haven’t found a room yet, can I extend my agreement?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay longer once your rental agreement has ended. If you haven't found a new accommodation yet, you can take a look at this page for suggestions.
I have cancelled my rental agreement, what are the next steps?
If you have cancelled your rental agreement, the next step then is to plan a precheck. Please see this page for more information regarding your departure. After the precheck, an SSH employee will arrange and end inspection with you and your roommate. It's mandatory for your roommate to be present. During the end inspection, the responsibility for the room transitions to the tenant of bed A. Thus, it's crucial to be present to address any potential disputes regarding damages.
How do I return my key?
Note that since you have a phone key instead of a physical key, you do not have to return anything. Rather, we will deactivate the access when your rental agreement expires.
