For now, only tenants from Erasmus International House (EIH) in Rotterdam, Proxima in Groningen and Baobab in Utrecht will use a phone key. This is a digital lock from iLOQ, which you can open with the iLOQ S50 app. You need a smartphone with NFC chip. Here you'll find an instruction for use.
I don't have a phone with NFC chip. What to do?
If you don't have a smartphone with NFC chip, please send a request via My SSH. You can buy a so-called keyfob (200 euro), which is a kind of tag which communicates with the iLOQ reader. You can only buy one keyfob per tenant. Another possibility is to buy a second hand smartphone with NFC chip. We don't hand out these keyfobs lightly, because we want to simplify building management with iLOQ. Moreover, we don't want to produce physical keys and/or keyfobs at all in the future.
Have I succesfully activated my key via the iLOQ S50 app?
As soon as you entered the activation code to register your device, 'Sluitsystemen: SSH' will be visible in your iLOQ S50 app. If you see this text, you have succesfully activated your key!
I'm still back home. Can I get a phone key already?
Yes, you can already register your device and activate your phone key while you're still in your home country. From the moment you've completed your booking, you'll see a tab 'My phone key' in My SSH. There you'll find all the information you need to register. You can actually use your phone key from the moment your rental agreement starts.
The iLOQ S50 app says 'not registered''
Click again on the URL link in the email you have received from iLOQ. When you haven’t received an email, go to My SSH and request a phone key again.
The door will not open when I use my phone. What to do?
Be patient; the power transfer takes as least four seconds. Take a look at the information page or watch the video (Android or iOS). Is the lock still not open after 10 seconds? Then press the round button in the app again and reposition your phone on the lock.
Registering a key friend, how does that work?
It is useful to add one or more key friends in advance, just to be on the safe side. However, this can also be done last-minute. This is how it works:
1. Ask a friend, family member, neighbour or passer-by if you can use their mobile phone for a while.
2. Log in to My SSH and go to the ‘My phone key’ menu.
3. Register your contact as a key friend.
4. Your contact will receive an activation email and can install the phone key.
Help! I lost or forgot my phone
If you forgot your phone, you can add key friends on My SSH. Above, you can read how this works. Please note: if you report a lock out and a mechanic has to come by, the (high) costs will be on your account.
I don't have (much) battery
You need at least 1% battery. No battery at all? Add a key friend via My SSH. Above, you can read how that works. Please note: if you report a lock out and a mechanic has to come by, the (high) costs will be on your account.
I don't have wifi/4G connection
To open your digital lock, you don't need an internet connection, but you must have been online recently. Haven't had internet for a few days? Then first connect to your building's wifi and click the refresh icon at the top right.
My iLOQ S50 app says 'access denied' or 'access failed'
Please find out the exact NFC chip location on your phone, and scan your lock while keeping your phone in the correct spot for seven seconds. Then you will see this message: 'access granted' and you can turn the door knob to open the door.
I didn't receive an email on my QQ.com-mail
Unfortunately, QQmail users are unable to open the registration link correctly. For this reason, we strongly recommend changing the registered e-mail address on My SSH before requesting the phone key. You may opt for outlook, gmail, protonmail etc. We'll ask you to confirm your new email address; after your confirmation, it may take 5-10 minutes to process the new email address in our administration. Avoid the QQmail client when opening the activation mail.
I'm still back home. Can I add key friends already?
That’s possible, but keep in mind that your key friend(s) will receive an activation link by email at the moment your rental agreement starts.
I added key friends. When do they get access?
Your key friends will receive an email with registration link on the day the access period starts. If your request is the same day as the access period starts, please wait for about 5 minutes to get the email.
Which areas do my key friends have access to?
They have access to all areas you have access to, for example your room, the general front door(s), your mailbox, the general living room, the roof terrace, washing room, bike shed, etcetera.
Can I change the SIM card while I already registered my phone?
Yes, you can change the SIM card; your phone key just keeps working. That means you can register your phone when you are still in your home country and change the SIM card when you are in the Netherlands.
Can I use my apple watch instead of my phone?
At the moment, you can't.
I've got a phone case. Is that a problem?
Most phone cases allow you to have a propper NFC connection. However, thicker cases may obstruct the NFC connection. Some cases are specifically designed to block NFC connection to avoid skimming.
How to lock my room?
Do not forget to properly lock the door when leaving your room. Use the iLOQ S50 app and turn the door knob a couple of times to lock the door.
I lost my phone. How to block my phone key?
As long as you have a pin code / face recognition, your phone won’t unlock and the iLOQ S50 app won’t work. You can block your current phone key simply by registering a new device. Please go to My SSH, tab ‘My phone key’ and press the button ‘new registration link’. You’ll receive a message to register your new device, while your previous device will be blocked.
I’ve got a new phone. Can I register this phone?
Yes, that’s possible, although you can register only one device. Please go to My SSH, tab ‘My phone key’ and press the button ‘new registration link’. You’ll receive a message to register your new device, while your previous device will be blocked.
What happens with my personal data?
Mobile access is very safe, as it’s encrypted with banking standards. Hacking chances are extremely small. Your data is safe, and we’ll never use it unless the police is involved.
Something in my room is missing. Can you check who entered my room?
Did you report it to the police? If yes, we can check our system to see who entered your room. If you didn't report it to the police, we are not allowed to check anything.
On the wall reader, I can enter a code. May I use this code?
A code involves security risks. For this reason, we have not made this functionality available to tenants.
