National registration platform ROOM

Together with other (non-profit) student housing organisations, the SSH has developed a new national registration platform; ROOM. ROOM is online since 24 September 2024.  Together, we rent out over 50,000 affordable student rooms in more than 10 cities.

Do I have a ROOM account?

If you were registered with the SSH, we sent an email in July 2024 asking if you agreed to transfer your details to the new registration platform. Did you respond positively to that before the end of August, or didn't let us know anything? If so, we created a ROOM account for you.

How can I create a password?

Do you have a ROOM account and can't log in? Then you probably still need to activate your account and create a (new) password. How it works: click this link, enter your email address, click ‘Next’ and choose the option ‘Reset password’. You will receive an email with a link to create a new password. Then you can log in to ROOM.nl. Another option is to log in directly to SSHxl.nl, in which case it works as described in situation 2 below.

How can I login?

Both SSHxl.nl and ROOM.nl have a login option. No ROOM password yet? Please take a look at the information above.

  •  You created a (new) password at ROOM: go to SSHxl.nl and enter your email address as user name. Then you automatically go to ROOM.nl, where your username is already recognised and your password is entered. Then go back to SSHxl.nl, where you are now logged in.
  • You did not want to join ROOM and only have an SSH account: go to SSHxl.nl and enter your email address as your username. The system will recognise that you do not have a ROOM account, after which a field will appear to enter your password. You are now logged in to the SSH.

How do I delete my account?

First activate your account (see above, step 1). Then you can delete your account at the bottom of your profile page. We will delete all your data within four weeks. In principle, we delete your data at the SSH systems when your ROOM account is deleted, unless you are currently renting from us, have been a tenant in the past two years, have rent arrears or are applying for (an) accommodation(s).

What happens to my registration time?

Were you already registered with the SSH and did you agree to transfer your data to the new registration platform? Then you have taken your registration time with you to ROOM. If you were registered with both SSH and other participating student accommodation providers, the longest registration time applied.

What advantages does ROOM have for me?

With a ROOM account, you will be able to apply for accommodation from all participating (non-profit) student housing providers - not only the SSH, but also DUWO, Idealis, Lefier, Pré Wonen and Ymere. Together, we rent out over 50,000 affordable student rooms in more than 10 cities. We expect more student housing organisations to join us in the future. This is nice for young people who want to study, but don't know where. They can register for €35 and get registration time for even more cities in the Netherlands. For students who are already studying and may already have a room, the platform offers a chance to get a place in another city. Useful if you have to move (temporarily) for your studies.

I still want to join ROOM. How do I do that?

Did you not respond to our earlier email(s) and didn't we transfer your details to ROOM? Then you can register with ROOM yourself. This costs 35 euros. Please note that the registration time you already had with SSH will stay, but for the other ROOM providers your registration time will start to count again.

I'm looking for housing with youth contracts. Is ROOM useful?

No, ROOM is really meant for student housing. For a starter home or youth housing, it is best to register with a regular housing corporation.

How long will my ROOM account remain valid?

Your registration is valid for 8 years. After that time, you can extend your registration annually free of charge. You will receive an email about this.
